Hypoalbuminemia

Hypoalbumenia is a disease, which is mainly caused due to a loss of protein from the body. This protein loss is a result of kidney damage. This disease can happen to any person irrespective of their age and sex.  This disease results into a severe reductions in serum albumins. The word albumin itself is the other word for protein. Albumin is also referred as the main protein of plasma. Protein in human body makes up to 60% of human plasma protein. Albumin plays an important role in the human body. It is released into bloodstreams as most of the hormones and drugs in the human body depend on albumin. Proper treatment on this disease is very important or it may result into liver failure, which can cause diseases like cirrhosis and chronic hepatitis.

Symptoms of Hypoalbuminemia:-

  • Not able to eat adequate amount of food
  • Fatigue, cramps in legs and muscle weakness
  • Abdomen may get swollen
  • Low albumin levels in your blood which further leads to low appetite
  • Severe diarrhea
  • Palpitations
  • Yellowness in your skin and eyes
  • Fluid accumulation in the abdomen
  • Severe vomiting ( 5 to 6 times in a day)

Causes of Hypoalbuminemia are as follows:-

  • Protein Malnutrition :-

hypoalbuminemia

Protein Malnutrition is the under availability of proteins in the body which leads to rapid loss of cellular ribonucleic acid and disturbs the endoplasmic reticulum which decreases the albumin synthesis

  • Extravascular protein loss:-

About 10 % of the proteins are lost through intestine, which further results into diseases like Lymphatic blockage, ataxia telangiectasia and mesenteric blockage, which can lead to tumor.

  • Extensive burns :-

Due to Hypoalbuminemia, there is a direct loss of albumin, which results into volume loss. This can lead to further complications like interleukin-6, interleukin -1 and tumor necrosis factor.

  • Stress :-

Hypoalbumenia also results into psychological stress which causes tissue damage, carcinoma. There are also some messenger substances that are released at the site of inquiry. Examples of these messenger substances are tumor neurosis factor, interleukin-5 and interleukin-1.

  • Heartfailure :-

Lack of protein also damages the heart as it cannot pump enough and so it cannot meet the needs of other organs. Heart failure can further result into high blood pressure, heart valve diseases and infection in the heart muscles.

Other causes of this disease include nephritic syndrome, malnutrition, acute and chronic inflammatory responses and hepatic cirrhosis.

Diagnosis:-

Diagnosis of this disease generally depends upon its severity in the person. Medicines prescribed on this disease depend upon the causes of this disease. There are many surgeries available for the cure of this disease

Treatment:-

Patients suffering from this disease are treated from exogenous albumin. While treating this disease, doctor should take care that the medicines prescribed may not result into thromboemblism. There is one major cause behind this disease. The doctor has to find it out and cure it in order to cure this disease, as there is no perfect medicine available on this disease. With the help of celluloid support the G I mobility and wound healing capacity can be improved. So while curing this disease, it is very important to understand and treat the consequences and to provide supportive care.

Prognosis:-

Serum albumin level needs to be checked, as it is an important indicator of this disease. Prognosis of Hypoalbumenia include:-

  • Misdiagnosis of ARDA
  • Fluid overload
  • Allergic Reactions

Thus, the following article emphasizes on all the important information related to Hypoalbumenia. It also focuses on other factors, such as symptoms, causes, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of this disease.
